Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover | Review

Have you ever witnessed something in life that just had you stuck? Like watching a train go merrily down the tracks until CRASH, it hits something and flies off track? Or maybe like watching a building become engulfed in flames. The fire is blazing, smoke and ashes fill the air, but yet you stand there intrigued to see more. You know there's an explosion ahead, so you wait with your hands covering your eyes, peaking through your fingers, until BOOM! Everything is scattered, everything is crashing down, and you're standing there like " what in the hell just happened?"

No? Well me either, but that's exactly what my reading experience with Ugly Love felt like.

Baby Mer's Book Haul + Review !

So this is a first here at fANGIRLconfessions. I decided to allow my baby boy Tihamer (THAI-MER) to have his own posts on my blog dedicated to all the cute little books he reads. When I first discovered my son's interest in reading, I was super excited! I mean what book lover doesn't want their kids to be bookworms as well? So his dad, my mom, and I began to buy him books. He even has his own shelf on my billy bookcase that my mom purchased for me a couple of months ago. So now here we are, giving my baby some time to shine on his mommy's blog.

Ten Book Challenge

I've been nominated by Blessie, Jennie, and Erin to complete this challenge. Thanks ladies, and don't forget to follow their awesome blogs if you haven't already!

The Rules

List 10 books that have stayed with you in some way. Do not take more than a few minutes, and do not think about it too hard. They do not have to be the "right books", or great works of literature, just ones that have affected you in some way. Paste these instructions and tag 10 friends, including me, so I can see your list!

Read more below to find out what titles are included on my list !

Top Ten Tuesday (1) Authors That I NEED To Read More Books From!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke And The Bookish. This week's topic is the top ten authors that I've only read one book from but need to read more.

Sarah J. Maas

I've only read Throne of Glass by her so far, but I plan on continuing the rest of the series.

Tahereh Mafi

Okay so this is sort of cheating, because I read 25% of Unravel Me, but I ended up putting it down because Juliette and Adam's relationship was soo overbearing, I just could NOT deal guys. I do want to continue the series, because everyone seems to love it, so maybe I'll continue one day . . . maybe.

Tabitha Suzuma

Forbidden is one of my favorite books ever! I haven't read any of her other work, but they have amazing reviews and ratings on goodreads. I definitely need to add more books from her to my amazon wishlist.

Mary E. Pearson

I adored the Kiss of Deception, and didn't know she had others book until I posted my review for it on goodreads. She has soooo many books with great ratings, like where have I been? Under a rock?

John Irving

I read In One Person back in 2012, and haven't stopped thinking about it since. That book impacted me greatly because I can relate in so many ways. I lost a family member to HIV in 2009, so reading about when the epidemic started in America hit home for me. It was an incredibly weird and crazy book, but I loved every minute of it. He has a handful of books that I need to add to my wishlist as well.

Andrew Smith

Winger is another title that is one of my all time favorites. I haven't read Grasshopper Jungle just yet, but I do own 100 Sideways Miles, and plan on reading it in October.

Jennifer L. Armentrout

I've read Wait For You by Jennifer, and although I breezed through the first of half of the book, the second half and ending left me cringing. I started just skimming through the rest of the book to finish, so I don't see myself continuing with the series, trilogy, or whatever. But, I do want to read the LUX series. Mainly because the books are in a bind up and I love big books lol.

Lauren Oliver

I have NO clue why I haven't read more of her books! I read Delirium and loved it, I just really suck at finishing series.

Morgan Matson

I lovedddddd Amy & Rogers Epic Detour, and I've been dragging my feet on reading Since You've Been Gone. It's not that I don't want to, I'm just trying to get a handle on my already overflowing TBR pile before I jump into this. I need to give it my undivided attention. lol

Michelle Hodkin

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer was so good! I haven't finished the trilogy because again, I obviously suck at finishing series. I'm getting better though, don't fret!

There you have it, my first Top Ten Tuesday here at fANGIRLconfessions featuring the Top Ten Authors I need to read more of. Comment down below with your top 10 ten authors, or link me to your blog posts!

Liebster Awards (2)

I've been nominated for The Liebster Award again! This time by two lovely girls who have blogs that I adore, Tanya at Keep Turning The Pages, and Laura at  Boats Against The Current . Thank you guys so much for the nominations! Now let's get down to the nitty gritty.

As you may know, the Liebster Award is a brilliant way to meet and follow new bloggers. You nominate bloggers that have under 300 followers, and come up with a list of 11 questions for them to answer.

By accepting this award, I have to answer all 11 questions from both Tanya and Laura.

Tanya's Questions:

1.) Why do you blog, and how long have you been blogging?

I blog because I wanted a platform to connect with other readers who share the same passions as I. I don't have friends in real life who enjoy reading, so this is a way for me to share my thoughts on books with people who do the same. September 31st will be my 2 month mark for fANGIRLconfessions.

 2.) When Do You Blog?

I don't really have a certain time or day that I blog. I'm just now really getting into the swing of things as far as blogging goes, but I try to post in the morning and in the afternoons. Since I'm a night owl, I spend that time searching for new blogs to follow, chatting with blogger friends, and networking.

3.) What is your favorite Tv series/movie & Why?

September 25th you will see me tweeting my butt off because the new season of SCANDAL premiers! I absolutely love this show! My friends always call me Olivia Pope when I'm giving advice or helping someone through a problem. I'm definitely the "fixer" of the crew lol. Another favorite show of mine is Bates Motel. That show is sooo weird, but it's good! I have so many favorite movies, but Crooklyn, The Wolf of Wallstreet, Unfaithful, and the Hand That Rocks The Cradle, are a few of my favorites. We would be here all day if I broke down why I love these movies so much lol. I'll try to keep things short:

Crooklyn- It reminds me of my childhood growing up. The games we played as kids, that one corner store we always went to for candy and snacks, the family disputes I've witnessed lol. It's also incredibly sad, the ending always makes me cry.

The Wolf of Wallstreet - I enjoy movies that are based on true events, so I knew I was going to love it. It was so funny and crazy as hell, not to mention that Leonardo Dicaprio is the main star, he's been bae since he played in What's Eating Gilbert Grape.

Unfaithful - I love this movie mainly because of the guy she was cheating on her husband with. He was so cute with his dark hair and accent, and he loved to read. I was so mad at certain events that took place lmao.

The Hand The Rocks The Cradle - If anyone is around my age and haven't seen this movie, you're seriously tripping. This movie is the epitome of crazy. So many lifetime movies were inspired by this.

4.) Who is your favorite actor/actress and why?

It's always hard for me to pick my favorite actors but to name a few, Leonardo Dicaprio, Johnny Depp, James Franco . . . ugh there's sooo many lol. I'm going to go with these three for now.

Johnny Depp - He's just such a superb actor. I haven't seen a movie with him in it that I didn't like yet. He just delivers, and I love how his characters always fit his personality. He seems really twisted lol so his roles are always so natural. (He played the hell out of Edward Scissor Hands. It makes me cry at the end for some reason lol)

Leonardo Dicaprio - He delivers as well, and I love how his roles are always so diverse. One minute he's doing so wild crazy movie, then next it's more subtle and serious.

James Franco - I loved him ever since I seen him in Spiderman playing Harry lmao. He's just so cute, and his little brother is just, LAWD!

For actresses there's no question that my favorites are Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, Chloe Grace, Moretz, and Hillary Swank.

Angelina Jolie -  She is sooo bad ass, and just perfect. Show me a movie where she doesn't slay!

Scarlett Johansson- I absolutely loved her in The Other Boleyn Girl. My obsession with her definitely started there.

Chloe Grace Moretz - I think Chloe is so adorable, I didn't start following her as an actress until her role in Let Me In. I haven't seen If I Stay just yet, but I heard she's phenomenal in it.

Hillary Swank - Just like Angelina, Hillary slayssss her movie roles. I really fell in love with her when she played in Boys Don't Cry. This movie is so powerful, omg it breaks me down everytime. I'm not talking shedding a tear, more like crying a river because the emotions are too much to control while watching this movie. She definitely delivers.

5.) If you could describe yourself in one sentence, what would it be?

I'm to cool for just one sentence. I need more of an essay. lol

6.) If you were an animal, what animal would you be?

A lion because I'm a Leo and we're the best! #teamleo :)

7.) How do you spend your free time?

Well I'm a mother, so most of my free time is spent with my 2 year old son. Other than that, if I'm not with my boyfriend, or chilling with some friends, then I'm reading or playing video games.

8.) Tell me one thing that you love.

Food.

9.) Tell me one thing that you hate.

Mornings lol. I'm far from a morning person.

10.) If you had the option to live forever, would you choose it? Why?

I think I would. It would be kind of cool to know that your life would never end. You're not running out of time so you can really live your life to the fullest, with still the promise of tomorrow. Sounds good to me.

11.) Do you like Harry Potter?

Harry and I were in a relationship some years ago. He cheated on me with Hermoine (Yes they were creeping, yall aint know ?!) , I've forgiven him since it's been years since this situation has occurred, but if I were to see him in the streets, it's a wrap lol.

Laura shares some of the same questions as Tanya, so I'm just going to indicate where you can find the answer in the above questions instead of answering them twice. Hope that's okay!

1.) Why did you start blogging? - This is answered above for question number 1.

2.) What is the first book you remember reading?

Girl my memory is NOT that good lol, but I do remember reading two books that I loved as a child, If You Gave A Mouse A Cookie, and If You Gave A Moose A Muffin. I'm definitely going to add these to my son's book collection.

3.) What's currently foremost on your to-read list?

Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld, Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix, and A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray.

4.) What is your favorite or least favorite book to movie adaptation?

Omg this is a throwback, but A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks. That movie came out sooo gooddd. The feeeeeeeels. Till this day, I cannot watch it without breaking down. For some reason, I can't think of a least favorite at this moment lol.

5.) What is your all-time favorite tv series? - I answered this above for question number 3. But since we're talking about my all time favorites, I'm going to throw Laguna Beach in there. I still watch re-runs of it on Hulu Plus lmao.

6.) If you had to read/watch one genre for the rest of your life, what would it be?

You're an evil person for this question Laura!

I'm going to say for reading I'll choose Contemporary. I love me some Contemp. To watch I'll choose horror because I loveeeee scary movies :)

7.) What is your favorite blog post that you've written so far?

I'm going to kill you lol. Umm, okay so I think my review for The Endangered is one of my favorite reviews I've done so far, and to pick a regular post, probably my Confession Time post. I was so proud of myself for creating a meme that people were excited to participate in, and that thumbnail wooooo girl I out did myself with that! If you haven't seen it, check it out here.

8.) Who is your favorite villian?

To be honest I don't really have one. :|

9.) If you had a super power what would it be?
I had this question asked in a previous Liebster Award post, but it would be the ability to teleport. I want to be able to snap my fingers and go anywhere I want in the world! That's considered a super power right? lol

10.) What are you book/movie pet hates?

Insta love! I will burn a book if the characters fall in love too quickly. Like, I know life is short but damn! Have some self control!

11.) What is your favorite part of blogging?

Meeting new people who love the same things I do. I've met so many amazing people since I started blogging. Everyone in this community, (for the most part) are so friendly and welcoming, I just love the connections I've made with others. Oh and building a professional relationship with authors and publishers!

That wraps up my second installment for the Liebster Award. Thank you so much to Tanya and Laura for the nominations! Your questions almost killed me, but thankfully I made it out unscathed lol.

Innocent Assassins | Review

First comes love, then comes murder.
You're an assassin captured during a mission. Instead of receiving the death penalty for the crimes you've committed, you're given a second chance at freedom. But with a catch of course.
Go against everything you were raised to believe in, and turn your back on the one person you love the most.
What would you do?
That is the decision Jane Lu has to make in this tale of love, friendships, and an inner battle of throwing everything away for a life you've always wanted to live.
Stay tuned for my thoughts on The Innocent Assassins.

Buddy Read Anyone?

* Drawing found over at Cinderella In Rubber Shoes, I sadly couldn't find the artist! Edited by me *

One of my favorite things I like doing now that I'm a blogger, is to join or host read alongs. I really love the experience of reading alongside other bloggers, or just readers, and discussing what we think of the story as we go along. Mallory, Jennie and I had our first read along featuring Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Mass in the beginning of August and it was so much fun. It took us awhile to get used to the time differences. Mallory and I are in the states, while Jennie resides in the UK, but once we did, things went pretty smoothly from there. We enjoyed ourselves so much, well atleast I did lol, that we decided to host 3 more read alongs to finish out the series. So far I rallied up 4 other people to join our little adventure of discovering what happens within the world of the deadliest assassin.

So while the other members play catch up, I thought, " Hey, I should do a buddy read with someone, featuring one of the new books I purchased." Now, I can't include all the books from my Stacking The Shelves post, (I bought physical copies of some) but here are the two titles you have to choose from.

There are no rules, but you must

  1. Own an e-reader (doesn't matter which one)
  2. Be in the States or Canada
  3. Ready to dive in September 8th.
  4. Have some sort of Social Media (twitter preferred) or Messaging app where we can discuss the book of course!
Now don't try to kill me just yet, all my buddy reads won't be exclusive to only readers in the States & Canada, so don't worry! I just want to be able to discuss the book in what's the word? "Real Time."

* Throne of Glass and all upcoming read alongs are international as well*

Comment down below if you are interested in joining this buddy read!
